A former Trump attorney holds a ring: One of President Donald Trump‘s personal lawyers is also entering the lobbying industry. Launching NexusOne Consulting, Jim Trusty and seasoned gaming lawyer Jeff Ifrah, who established Ifrah Law, where Trusty has spent the last eight years working, will counsel clients in the nascent technology sector on shifting trends in social media regulation, artificial intelligence, and cryptocurrency.
In addition to assisting Trump throughout special counsel Jack Smith’s inquiry into secret papers and the investigations into Trump’s purported attempts to sabotage the 2020 election, Trusty assisted in leading Trump’s D.C.-based legal staff between administrations. After Trump was indicted in 2023 in the papers case, which, like the election obstruction charge, has since been dropped, Trusty left Trump’s legal team. Another seasoned member of Trump’s legal teams, Evan Corcoran, is currently employed at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck.
A former federal prosecutor, Ifrah is now a sought-after lawyer for issues involving sports betting and the gambling business. Additionally, he was a founding member of the iDevelopment and Economic Association, a club for the gaming business. Ifrah stated in an interview that Trump started circling the topic of “Was there something to do with the fact that we now had a former client in the White House?” following his election victory in November.
According to Ifrah, the goal of NexusOne is
“to assist our clients in the crypto AI and digital sectors to utilise our connections in the White House and executive branch, aiming for their inclusion in policy discussions accelerates.”
He cited the Trump administration’s pledge to enact a historic AI policy and its retreat from the aggressive crypto enforcement posture of the Biden era, which Ifrah claimed had closed many of the crypto clients his firm had previously worked for.
“It appeared that there was a chance to truly represent our clients in a manner that differed from how we represented them previously,”
he continued, adding that up until recently, that approach has been reactive or defensive rather than proactive.
According to Ifrah, the business anticipates working on issues pertaining to drones, prediction markets, data privacy, and social media corporations in addition to cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence. Saildrone lobbyist Ross Branson, who worked in the Commerce Department during the first Trump administration, will also become managing director of the new company.
